About Me/This Site/The Bike

Hey, I'm AJ. I've been wrenching since I got my driver's license, I built racecars in college on an FSAE team, and I've been riding motorcycles since 2013. It's January 2020, and for a lot of reasons, I decided it was time for a bigass project. So, mathbike.

I owe a huge debt to the forums of the internet for all they have taught me. My mental toolbox for practical wrenching is stocked with lessons read, and fuckall know how many vital make/model/system/component details I found because someone cared to mention the extra detail in their post. This build blog is my attempt to give back in a way that, after much research when thinking about this bike, I feel would be unique and novel.

I don't intend for this page to die. I grew up with technology, and hope that none of my contributions ever end up as a dreaded archived thread/page not found/link broken dead-end. If some part of this is broken, leave a comment/send me an email and tell me about it, even in years and years. If I don't respond, I'm dead, or wish people to think I am ;).

Along the same vein, if you have questions, or if you want any of the material I've created during this build, ask! The python scripts, cad files, spreadsheets, additional build pictures, whatever. Even after the fact - if I've not totaled the bike or scrapped the tooling/fixtures, I'll take a picture of whatever I can to help. (I know the pain of zooming the crap out of grainy picture trying to see how something is actually bolted together).

Share the crap out of this page. Threads like this have to hit some kind of critical mass so they don't disappear after the big wave of original interest dies. Who knows what kid will find your link on a random page in fifteen years and end up becoming the motorcycle builder friend of his group.

Read Tony Foale's Motorcycle handling and Chassis Design. It's THE textbook. It's good stuff. His software is pretty dope, too.
